Born and raised in Soroti, Charles completed his primary and Secondary education in Teso. He later studied at the Kenya Wildlife Institute, majoring in Tourism Management, and moved to the famous College of African Wildlife Management; Mweka, in Moshi Tanzania.
Charles is a respected primatologist and tourism specialist. He spent over a decade in Kibale Forest, seeing it transform from a forest reserve to a national park. He was a key player in habituating chimpanzees, and developing chimp related tourism.
Charles managed the Kyambura Gorge and the Jane Goodall Institute Collaborative Primate Habituation Project, both under the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
Following senior positions in national parks and chimpanzee tourism management, he decided to take an MSc. in Natural Resource Management at Leicester University, U.K., with an emphasis on the bushmeat trade.
With knowledge of East African wildlife and protected areas, Charles can give you a clear insight into sustainable conservation in this region. His experience in ornithology and great apes is also second to none. Charles is the Co-founder of The Queen Elizabeth Parks Project www.queenelizabethparks.org.
Charles works tirelessly as a volunteer promoting respect and awareness of the work of park rangers within East and Southern Africa. He currently lives with his wife and children in Leicester, England where he gained his MSc in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources at the University of Leicester. He returns frequently to Uganda to enjoy the sunshine and good food.
Charles is now advisor to charities working with schools adjacent to protected areas in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo .
Currently, he is the Coordinator of Teso Education Fund -TEF a newly established UK charity to promote education in Uganda and Kenya.
