TEF UK Executive Director to attend 2nd Teso Education Conference in Uganda

The Executive Director, Teso Education Fund, UK, Dr Patrick Igulot will be travelling to Uganda to attend the 2nd Teso Education Conference.

The one-day conference which was postponed from April will be on Saturday 7th May 2022 at Sports View Hotel, Kireka, Kampala, Uganda.

The theme of the conference is exploring opportunities for funding education in Teso sub region in north eastern Uganda.

The conference will start at 9:00 AM Uganda Time (7:00 AM UK Time) with the arrival of participants and finish at 4:00 PM, Uganda Time or 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM UK Time.

Dr Patrick Igulot, Executive Director, TEF UK

Dr Igulot will spell out the vison of TEF and call upon stakeholders to work with TEF to improve education in Teso. He will also speak about the demand for financial educational support in Teso.

While in Uganda, Dr Igulot will hold talks with the leadership of TEF Uganda, other stakeholders, and visit sponsored students.

Dr Igulot will be joining the team from TEF Uganda led by the Acting Country Director, Mr Dickens Ojamuge who will present the achievements of TEF in the last 20 months and its plans.

The conference will be opened by Hon Dr Ongalo Obote Clement Kenneth, Member of Parliament for Kalaki County and Minister of State for Teso Affairs.

The conference will be closed by Hon Hellen Adoa, Member of Parliament for Serere District and Minister of State for Fisheries.

The Keynote address will be delivered by Professor Godfrey Akileng, Dean, School of Business, Makerere University who will speak about public and private opportunities for funding education in Uganda, with a focus on opportunities for Teso region.

A strategic presentation will be delivered by Mr Bernard Ongodia, Principal, Uganda Petroleum Institute, Kigumba. Mr Ongodia will address the need for a strategic shift in focus from knowledge and theoretical education in Teso sub region to vocational education in line with TEF’s 5-year strategy 2021 – 2025.
