Teso Education Fund Opens Office in Soroti

Teso Education Fund (TEF), an NGO established in 2020 has opened its head office in Soroti City, eastern Uganda.

The office will spearhead the implementation of TEF’s programme in education, health, and community sensitisation.

The office is located on Plot 41 and 43 on Kamuda Road, opposite Majengo Primary School in Soroti. It opened on 20 February 2021.

To mark the opening of the office, TEF interviewed applicants for its first scholarships. 9 applicants were interviewed and subsequently awarded scholarships.

The vision of TEF is a world in which all young people are well educated, skilled, and empowered to live their lives to their full potential.

To achieve this vision, TEF has 6 strategic objectives for improving education in Teso:

  1. Improving education through interventions in formal education such providing scholarships, career guidance and mentorship, and support to schools and educational institutions.
  2. Improving education through interventions in vocational education such providing scholarships, career guidance and mentorship, and support to technical schools and training institutions.
  3. Addressing the barriers to education such as poverty and poor school health;
  4. Improving education by sensitizing communities on negative traditional practices affecting education;
  5. Improving education by ensuring social inclusion in education and training including addressing gender inequality in education and training and giving people with disability equitable access to educational opportunities;
  6. Improving education through education advocacy, networking, and partnership.
